About the job

At Wayside Publishing, we have set highly ambitious goals for our company that will require close collaboration across a wide array of functions and teams. As the Technical Project Manager for our Information Technology organization, you will lead complex, mission-critical technical initiatives to successful outcomes, partnering with leadership and cross-departmental stakeholders to drive their vision. Your work will directly contribute to Wayside Publishing's growth as a disruptive educational technology company.


You'll be charting a course with milestones, influencing & supporting individuals across teams to hit goals, and balancing robust risk tactics against the need for speed and quality. We'll count on your judgment and understanding of how people and teams achieve goals and rely on you to guide prioritization and planning. You'll bring a keen and deep understanding of project management. You will be reporting to the Senior Information Technology Manager, who will support you with a vision of success and the business challenges & hard questions that grow careers.

Content Manager

 As Digital Content Manager you will play a key role in the creation and maintenance of digital learning content on Wayside Publishing’s learning management system, as well as contributing ideas and improvements for the future of the platform itself. For new products, you will oversee projects from manuscripts to live, functional, and accurate digital content for e-books and e-learning activities of the customer-facing digital product. The ideal Content Manager thrives on accuracy and efficiency, advocates for the customer perspective, and displays a strong desire for collaboration and innovation.

Front-End Software Developer

About this job

You’ll be part of a fast-growing, tightly cohesive software development team that works closely with our product manager to plan tasks and get value out to customers with every release. We administer our Learning Site application stack, and you’ll be working with other front-end, integration, and backend developers to deliver new and innovative learning features to our customers. You’ll also work to update our existing codebase to scale for the rapid growth we are experiencing as demand for our innovative products increases.


You’ll be an essential member of our fantastic engineering team, which includes software developers, a scrum master, business analysts, a UI/UX designer, and software quality assurance engineers. Your intelligence, work ethic, humility, and sense of humor will fit in well. You will be building software that improves the lives of teachers and students. In our Agile environment, all development team members are heard and impact the decisions and direction of our team and our product. Duties include

  • Responsible for application development and support of Wayside Publishing’s Learning Site and other digital products according to requirements/specifications, working both independently and collaboratively.
  • Review code from other team members for quality assurance and to provide feedback on implementation methods.
  • Developing functional and attractive learning experiences to continuously enhance our digital product offerings to students and faculty, using industry and company best standards and practices.
  • Improving scalability and usability of our Learning Management System, collaborating with developers and UI/UX designer.
  • Refactoring existing code to include new features and improve development velocity. Architecting new features to integrate with existing platforms.
  • Communicate with non-technical staff to ensure deliveries meet expectations, effectively and efficiently resolving or escalating issues.
  • Experimenting with new technologies and processes that better enable us to deliver research-inspired learning features to our teachers and students.
  • Contributing to Wayside Publishing’s evolving software development practices, participating in learning and knowledge building as part of a curious and developing team.
  • Other duties as assigned.
