Speak Up for Languages
Do you remember that moment when languages just "clicked" for you? When you realized languages would always be a part of your vocation? When languages made an impact on your life and the lives of others?
In an effort to engage policymakers across the country, the Joint National Committee for Languages (JNCL) and Wayside Publishing invite you to share your story and speak up for world language education in the United States.
Your 30-second video story could be selected for inclusion in an online collection curated and shared by JNCL on their newly redesigned website. Story links will be publicly accessible so that language educators and their allies can share them with policymakers and education stakeholders. The story collection will be launched at an event during ACTFL on Saturday, November 23.
To support the five recommendations of American Languages Report, here are some suggested story topics. We welcome you to speak from the heart and address a recommendation from your own perspective.
Thank you in advance for your story, and for all that you do to improve access to as many languages as possible for people of every age, ethnicity, and socioeconomic background.
