About the Author
Louis Baskinger’s interest in languages stems from years of French and Spanish study in middle school and high school, where he was inspired by his teacher to pursue world language study in college. Baskinger went on to obtain a B.A. in Romance Languages, and M.A. in Spanish Language and Literature from Syracuse University at Utica College. This education was enhanced by participation in programs at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and the Universidad de Salamanca.
Baskinger's Spanish teaching career includes forty years of classroom experience at Notre Dame Academy in Utica, NY and New Hartford High School in New Hartford, NY. His passion for Spanish language education has earned him numerous accolades throughout his career, including three-time Rotary Teacher of the Year and a My Favorite Teacher award in New York. He is currently an adjunct teacher of Spanish at Herkimer College.
Outside of the classroom, Baskinger's contributions to the profession of World Language education have taken multiple forms. A lifetime member of New York State Association of Foreign Languages (NYSAFLT), he served on the Board of Directors in multiple roles including Past President. He is also a member of ACTFL. He has been a reader for the AP® for some twenty-five years in the capacity of reader, Table Leader and Question Leader.
Baskinger has been an integral part of the author team for the Wayside Publishing title, Triángulo APreciado 6.ª with Cecilia Herrera, Frank Masel, and John McMullan. He has also written a module for the College Board.
